Opening night at the farm

Sponsors and Artists spent a beautiful dusk evening previewing the sculpture trail on Thursday 13th April.  Some artists spoke about their work as guests paused to view the sculptures.  A steady climb to the top of trail was rewarded with a surprise ‘half-way bar’ serving ‘farm-fresh’ blackcurrant and pepperberry cocktails.

Afterwards guests enjoyed canapes served by Zena at Pepperberries Garden Cafe while Bob Brown officially opened the trail and Mayor Steve Wass announced the Kingborough Council Acquisition award. This year the recipient was Ned Trewartha with his sculptural bench, ‘Currawong’. Ned’s piece was a subtle nod to the original sculpture trail, Bench-markng Birchs Bay.  Joshua Reilly, Chairman of the Art Farm Birchs Bay committee, announced the Farm Acquisition (shared between AFBB & Five Bob Farm).

The People’s choice award and AFBB Sponsors Prize will be announced at the closing event, Bonfire Night in July.
